Introduction

The Inspiration of Scripture

The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:16–17:

instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

The phrase "inspiration of God" means that the Scriptures were breathed out by God. While human authorsphysically wrote the words, the Holy Spirit guided them so that God's truth was accurately communicated.

Over a period of approximately 1,500 years, more than forty writers contributed to the Bible. These writerscame from different backgrounds, including kings, shepherds, fishermen, prophets, and scholars. Yet theBible maintains a remarkable unity because its ultimate Author is God Himself.

Hebrews 4:12 declares:

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

God's Word is alive and active. It has the power to convict sinners, strengthen believers, renew minds, andtransform lives. Unlike ordinary books, the Bible speaks directly to the human heart through the work of theHoly Spirit.

Although written by many authors over many centuries, the Bible presents one unified message of God'splan for humanity.

4. Transforming Power

Millions of lives have been changed through the message of Scripture. Its power to transform heartsremains evident today.

Applying God's Word Daily
