RICH FOOLS WHO PROUDLY RELY ON THEIR GREAT WEALTH.( Psalm 49) !!!

RICH FOOLS WHO PROUDLY RELY ON THEIR GREAT WEALTH.( Psalm 49)

A Psalm written by a son of Korah, a Levite who knows what it is to be without wealth( see Numbers 18:21-24; Deut.14:27-29) and  one who observed the attitude of many of the rich, who put their security in the world.

He wrote this for everyone in the world. "Hear this, all you people; listen all who live in this world"( Psa.49:1) "both low and high, rich and poor".(49:2)

The purpose is to give wisdom and understanding to all those who listen.(49:3)

Psalm 49 is talking about the rich who "trust in their wealth and boast in their great riches."(49:6)

A. What happens to everyone?

a. The wise men die.(49:10 a)

b. The foolish and the senseless alike perish.(49:10 b)

( Life in this world is temporary. We all will die and it could be anytime)

B. What happens to their wealth afterwards?

They leave their wealth to others.(49:10 c)

( nobody will be able to take anything with them. Some who receive it, waste it or destroy it in no time)

Some saved or hide their wealth in places which nobody knows and no one gets benefit out of it.

C. What happens to them after death?

Their tombs will remain their  houses forever. (49:11 a)

(Their expensive homes built to last for generations are exchanged for tombs that last " for endless generations")

D. What is the fate of those who trust in themselves?

a. Despite their riches, they do not endure.(49:12 a)

( Who were the richest people in your village /city /state / country or the world, 100/ 50 years back? Any of them living today? How many people knew their name today? No one can escape death with money)

b. Like the beasts, they perish.(49:12 b, 20)

c. Like sheep, they are destined for the grave.(49:14 a)

d. Death will feed on them.( 49: 14 b)

e. Their forms will decay in the grave.(49:14 c)

(The bodies of healthy and wealthy people, beautiful and handsome people, Kings, Queens, rich, powerful...all will decay)

f. Their graves will be far from their princely mansions.(49:14 d) (Usually in lonely places, far away from their family, far away from where people live or in forest areas)

E. What we should learn from the fate of the rich?

a. We should not be overawed when a person grows rich.(49:16 a)

b. We should not be overawed when the splendor of his house increses.(49:16 b)

Reason?

c. For he takes nothing with him when he dies.(49:17 a)

Everyone need to leave everything in this world forever. No chance even to see or touch all those wealth or riches after death.

d. His splendor will not descent with him.(49:17 b)

e. They will join the generation of his fathers.(49:19 a)

f. They will never see the light of life.(49:19 b)

F. What is the fate of a Godly person?

a. GOD will redeem his life from the grave. (49:15 a)

b. GOD will surely take the Godly person to himself.(49:15 b)

( Those who know the LORD, who live according to His word and who die in Him will be taken to heaven but those who run after the world will live their eternity in hell.)

Are we running after the world for money or living with the LORD?

Are we trusting in worldly wealth or boasting in great worldly riches?

Are we living to increase our wealth in this world or depositing and increasing our wealth in heaven?

If we die now, what will be our fate? Where do we spend our eternity?
