GOD'S JUDGEMENT ON EMPTY WORSHIP.(Psalm 50) !!!
GOD'S JUDGEMENT ON EMPTY WORSHIP.(Psalm 50)
A Psalm of Asaph, a leader of the Levitical choir, addresses Israel on behalf of the LORD. The LORD is coming (50:3) to judge(50:4) his covenant people to account as they meet him in worship at the Temple.
GOD is calling the heavens and the earth as witnesses to judge his people(50:4). They had a wrong understanding about giving sacrifices to GOD.
1. What is GOD telling them?
a) I have no need for a bull from your stall. ( 50:9 a)
b) I have no need of goats from your pens. (50:9 b)
WHY?
c) Every animal of the forest is mine. (50:10 a)
d) The cattle on a 1000 hills are mine.(50:10 b)
c) I know every bird in the mountains. (50:11 a)
d) The creatures of the field are mine. (50:11 b)
e) The WORLD is mine and all that is in it. (50:12)
2. What is GOD asking them?
a) Do I eat the flesh of bulls? (50:13 a)
b) Do I drink the blood of goats? ( 50:13 b)
3.What is God interested?
a) Sacrifice thank offerings to GOD. (50:14 a)
b) Fulfill your vows to the Most High. (50:14 b)
GOD is interested in them leading a faithful, obedient, and holy life than in their sacrifices. If they lead a life pleasing to Him, GOD is pledging to them that He will deliver them when they call Him in the day of trouble. (50:15)
Do we realise that everything we have belongs to GOD?
Let us dedicate ourselves to leading a life pleasing to Him, a life according to His word.

We forget that our God is a living God, a Holy God, a God of justice and truth
When GOD looks at us and examines our lives, are we hypocrites?
How is our life before GOD and our obedience to His word?
Let us abandon hypocrisy and lead a life pleasing to GOD in our thoughts, words, and in our actions.
