WORD FOR THE DAY

When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him and said “ I am the LORD Almighty walk before Me and be blameless (walk before Me and be thou perfect) ” - Genesis 17:1 

The LORD Jesus Christ is Our Shield and Great Reward

After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your SHIELD, your very GREAT REWARD” - Genesis 15:1

 

The Lord promised to Abram I am your shield and your very great reward. What a promise GOD Almighty gave to Abram. Lord GOD Almighty was saying to Abram "I am your very Great reward. When did Abram received this Word from the LORD and why ?

 

1.) Abram's Nephew Lot was attacked and taken away.

It was a time the four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food. They also carried off Abram’s nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom and went away.

 

2.) Abram attacked the four kings and was victorious

When Abram heard that his relative had been taken captive, he called out the 318 trained men born in his household and went in pursuit. He attacked and overtook them. He recovered all the goods and brought back his relative Lot and his possessions, together with the women and the other people.

 

3.) Abram gave One-Tenth of everything on seeing the High Priest

Abram was heading home after the victory, on seeing the high priest - he honoured GOD by giving one-tenth of everything to the high priest.

 

4.) Abram did not touch any of the loot even after the Lord gave victory.

The king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the people and keep the goods for yourself. Abraham said, "I will accept nothing belonging to you, not even a thread or the strap of a sandal". And he gave everything to the king of Sodom.

 

The LORD saw the heart of Abram and His Faithfulness to HIM and then spoke to him in a vision “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your SHIELD, your very GREAT REWARD”.

 

Yes, when we keep Our Lord Jesus Christ has our great and only reward. He surely will prove to us that HE alone can reward us richly for HE alone is our reward. LORD Jesus Christ is All sufficient for us. LORD Jesus Christ is enough for us. Nothing else should take the place of Jesus Christ in our hearts. HE alone can satisfy us fully. Let no man be your influence and reward but let the LORD alone be your reward here on earth and in the kingdom to come. Do the best you can All for the Glory of Jesus Christ. Praise HIM and Exalt the Name of JESUS CHRIST now and forever.
